Ahuena Heiau, the Temple of the Altar of Fire, is the focal point of the village of Kailua-Kona, and where we begin our tour. Ahuena is where he decided to live the last seven years of his life, preparing his eldest son, Liholiho, to succeed him. From this vantage point this mighty warrior could survey his kingdom at peace, at long last.
