Place of Refuge

Pu’uhonua 0 Honaunua this national historic park is home to spectacular beaches, a recreated village, and most especially, to the Pu’uhonua, Hawai’ian for “place of refuge.” As soon as you enter the grounds you can feel its power and tranquility. Local people say its always good to ask for permission before entering this sacred place out of respect for the spirits that still reside here.
